Getting your player ready...

They are baseball’s equivalent of The Rolling Stones, the show everybody wants to see. In an otherwise vanilla interleague home schedule, the New York Yankees, as previously reported by The Denver Post, are coming to Coors Field.

The Yankees visit June 19-21 is the highlight of the Rockies’ 2007 home schedule, released today. In their previous stop in Denver in 2002, the Yankees set records for attendance, runs and hits in a three-game series.

Colorado will also host Kansas City May 18-20, featuring the return of first baseman Ryan Shealy, and Tampa Bay on June 15-17. As part of their interleague schedule, the Rockies return to Fenway Park for the first time in five years. Colorado had the NL’s best record against the AL this season, going 11-4.

The Rockies will open their home season on April 2 against the Arizona Diamondbacks for the second time in three years before beginning a long road trip with a three-game set in San Diego. The longest homestand will be 10 games, twice occurring from May 10-20, including a visit from the Giants, and May 28-June 7, when the St. Louis Cardinals will make their only trip into town.

Other notable items: The Cubs, always among the top draws, have a four-game set in Denver Aug. 9-12 and the NL East champion Mets will finish a series on July 4 at Coors Field before the Rockies embark on a monster road trip after the All-Star break.
