Aurora – Federal immigration agents today raided a construction project adjacent to Buckley Air Force Base and detained more than 120 suspected illegal workers, federal authorities said.
The workers – from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala – were building a base-housing project as part of a multimillion-dollar federal contract.
The illegal workers were detained shortly after sunrise at the work site and were loaded onto buses. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent in Jeff Copp said that the workers will be taken to El Paso and deported.
Supervisors for the contractor declined comment.
