Chadron, Neb. – Danny Woodhead and Landon Ehlers combined for 42 points Saturday, helping the undefeated Chadron State Eagles rout Colorado Mines 57-0 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game at Don Beebe Stadium.
Chadron State (4-0, 1-0 RMAC) opened its conference schedule in explosive fashion, holding a 43-0 lead at halftime.
Woodhead, a junior tailback, scored on runs of 4, 20 and 25 yards, then ran 12 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. Ehlers hooked up with quarterback Joe McLain for three touchdowns on receptions of 38, 24 and 7 yards.
It was Mines’ first shutout loss since 1999. Chadron State held the Orediggers (1-3, 0-2) to three first downs and 28 total yards. The Eagles intercepted four Mines passes, three thrown by David Pesek and one thrown by Rowdy Arciaga.
Woodhead finished with 125 yards on 17 carries. McLain threw for 248 yards on 13-of-15 passing. Ehlers caught four passes for 89 yards.
ADAMS STATE 34, NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS 17
Alamosa – The Grizzlies broke open a close game during the third quarter with three consecutive scores and held off a late rally by the Cowboys at Rex Stadium to remain undefeated in the RMAC.
Adams State quarterback Billy Lindquist, who started in place of injured Clint Buderus, threw for 226 yards on 21-of-32 passing. Lindquist tossed three touchdown passes and Dave Copelan led the Grizzlies (3-1, 2-0) with eight catches for 99 yards.
Adams State forced Highlands (2-2, 0-2) into five turnovers, converting them into 24 points. Chris Ross’ 6-yard touchdown catch from Lind- quist with 10:34 remaining in the third quarter put Adams State up 21-0.
FORT LEWIS 35, MESA STATE 20
Grand Junction – Matt Gutierrez tossed two first-quarter touchdown passes and the Skyhawks never trailed against the Mavericks at Stocker Stadium.
Gutierrez led Fort Lewis (3-2, 3-0) with 277 yards on 18-of-26 passing. Dion Myers gained 116 yards on nine carries for the Skyhawks.
Mesa State (1-3, 0-2) was led by quarterback Sean McGraw, who threw for 171 yards on 18-of-35 passing. Drew Bohannan caught 10 passes for 121 yards for the Mavericks.
WESTERN NEW MEXICO 24, WESTERN STATE 0
Gunnison – The Mustangs ran for 287 yards and scored all their points in the first three quarters in an RMAC rout of the Mountaineers.
Western New Mexico (3-1, 2-1) was led by Dakota Wood- ard’s 105 yards on 14 carries. The Mustangs gained 396 total yards.
Western State (1-3, 1-1) received 44 yards from JR Finley on four catches, but managed only 54 total yards on offense.
COLORADO COLLEGE 46, LEWIS & CLARK 3
Colorado Springs – Chris Neal threw for two touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns, helping the Tigers rout the Pioneers in Colorado College’s home opener at Washburn Field.
Colorado College (3-1) also benefited from 224 yards on 22 carries from Justin Alexander.
