Concussions a real threat
Thank you for your story on concussions. The public, and most importantly parents and coaches, need to know the dangers involved when their child has a concussion.
A concussion is more than a “ding” to the head and cannot, contrary to popular belief, be “shaken off.” It has the potential effect of changing one’s life for ever. There is no such thing as a mild brain injury.
As president of the Brain Injury Association of New York State and one of the leading advocates for the rights of persons with brain injuries in this country, I am constantly amazed at how some athletes and their teams treat concussions. By minimizing the effects and prematurely allowing players to return to play, they are setting the wrong example to children involved in sporting activities and setting them up for a lifelong disability.
Again, thank you for alerting the public to the public health crisis of concussions.

Let’s get behind Jake
It seems Mr. Walker has already forgotten, as well as the rest of Denver, that if he would have caught just two more passes last week that he would not have been regulated to “Man, I’m not into blocking every down.” By catching a few passes (last) week, he seems to be out of the dog house. Too bad it’s not as easy for Jake. The man can’t and is not supposed to do it all, but everybody has to help. One game doesn’t make Mr. Walker and it shouldn’t have us throwing out Mr. Plummer. Let’s everybody get back on track and allow Mr. Cutler to develop this year without throwing away the whole year. I believe Jake can take this year’s version of the Broncos much farther than last year. If we would just get behind him instead of piling on him.

Stand by Broncos
I can’t believe the whining and crying out there! When the Broncos are winning, everybody is jumping on the bandwagon. But if we’re losing, everyone is quick at pointing fingers and jumping right off. Hello, it’s called a team! If the team loses, it’s because of the team, – not just Jake! Do you remember when we drafted John Elway? How many times did the team get to the playoffs only to lose in the first or second round? We didn’t win the big show until the last two years of Elway’s Hall of Fame career. I’ve ate crow many times because of my beloved Broncos. Win or lose I’m still going to support and cheer on my team. To me that’s a true fan! Go Broncos!
