Ever wonder why all of a sudden it seems like your favorite singletrack is riding smoother? It’s not friendly trail gnomes. It’s shovel-packing pedal-pushers giving something back. What began three years ago as a nationwide effort to patch up a handful of the nation’s most pedaled trails has become a Front Range rally at Buffalo Creek Recreation Area. The International Mountain Bike Association-spawned and Forest Service-approved effort includes volunteers with the Colorado Mountain Bike Association, the Front Range Mountain Bike Patrol, Boulder Off-Road Alliance, Bicycle Colorado and the Colorado Trail Foundation spending two days repairing and maintaining several miles of primo trail. The Sept. 30 . Oct. 1 weekend provides volunteers with tools, camping, food and drink in exchange for trail labor.
