A Jefferson County District Court judge ruled Monday that probable cause was established in a grand jury indictment of a Catholic priest who is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy he was counseling.
Timothy Evans, 43, of Loveland, will be arraigned Oct. 19 and his $25,000 bond was continued. In addition, the court issued a restraining order requiring Evans to have no contact with the alleged victim.
Evans is accused of fondling a then-16-year-old boy who had been sent to him for counseling while the priest was assigned to Spirit of Christ Catholic Community in Arvada.
The alleged assault occurred between May 10, 1995, and May 10, 1997.
Evans, who has been forbidden from performing any priestly duties, also is accused in Larimer County of sexually assauting a Fort Collins youth in 1999 while he was a pastor at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.
