The Boulder Police Department arrested Boulder City Councilman Erwin “Richard” Polk for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs just after 9 p.m. on Monday.

When Polk was pulled over, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana smoke coming from both the vehicle and Polk, according to reports.

Police collected a wooden pipe and 2.1 grams of suspected marijuana from Polk and his vehicle. Polk told the officer he had one glass of wine prior to being pulled over.
