Feeling a little unlucky in the romance department?

If the dating scene has worn you out as of late, you always can try a new tack. Bid on your desired bachelor or bachelorette at the Lucky in Love date auction Thursday at Mile High Station. Eighteen brave men and women will take the stage to let the bidding begin, with the proceeds benefiting Newgenesis, a transitional shelter for the homeless.

Among the eligibles on the block: Kathy Lee, producer for the Lewis & Floorwax show on 103.5 The Fox; Lotus Entertainment marketing maven Paulina Szafranski; pro skier and Warren Miller film star Chris Anthony; Golden firefighter Todd Ferrin; restaurateur and TV host Nick Mystrom; and Inland Pacific CEO Tim O’Byrne.

Not only are the men and women top-notch, the dates themselves should be pretty spectacular, with packages ranging from overnight ski trips to Vail to VIP tickets to concerts, sporting events, and high-profile benefit parties.

The theme for the night is “rock & roll roadhouse.” Invites are modeled after an old West wanted poster, and the Railbenders will be rolling out a set of rocky-tonk to keep the crowd entertained. (The Railbenders seem to have found a niche lately in the hip fundraiser circles; I saw them just two weeks ago at a funder at Morton’s for the Jake Plummer Foundation.)

Spicy Southwestern eats and an open bar will help keep the conversations – and the bidding – lively.

“We’re looking for a rowdy roadhouse vibe, so get out your Levis, leather chaps, and bandanas,” said Bradley Joseph, co-chair for the event. “We want to keep it young and fun.”

To help attract a younger crowd than the average fundraiser, ticket pricing is on an age-appropriate sliding scale. If you’re under 30, you can scoop up a “barely legal” ticket for a mere $30; otherwise tickets run a still-affordable $46 for singles, $85 for couples, or $200 for a “love seat” package with lounge seating for four. Lure’s opener a bit too tasty

Lodo’s latest see-and-be-seen lounge opened last Friday night to a packed house. The Lure, located at 1434 Blake St. (the former home of Andrew’s Pub and City Spirit Cafe) opened its doors for a VIP party from 6 to 10 p.m. last Friday.

The long, narrow space has been elegantly remodeled, and was packed by 8 p.m. Still, it didn’t stop more of the curious masses from crowding in all night long.

“It got a little too busy on Friday,” admitted co-owner Jetmir Zymeri. “We wanted to keep a line outside, but everyone wanted to come in and check it out and we didn’t want to turn them down. But we don’t want it to be too crowded. It’s a place where you can come to chill and talk and be comfortable.”

This is the first venture into the Denver nightlife scene for Zymeri and his business partner Jayson Marrs, but they teamed up with two others who bring plenty of experience to the table. Co-owner Johnny Coast worked with Lotus Entertainment for years (Mynt, Monarck, 5 Degrees), and Eric Roeder (Bistro Vendome), another co-owner, lends his expertise as the executive chef. Look for new American fare on the dinner menu, along with tasty tapas which they’ll serve daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. The drink menu focuses heavily on wine and champagne, but also offers a unique list of specialty cocktails and bottle service by request for the dozen or so booths.

Who’s your trivia daddy?

A handful of Post entertainment writers – myself included – have agreed to take on a group from the Rocky Mountain News in a friendly round of Rockstar Family Feud. Westword columnist Adam Cayton-Holland will play the role of Richard Dawson as we tackle intellectually challenging and/or blatantly random questions about pop culture, music trivia, and the Denver scene. Survey says?

Join the audience at Rockbar (3015 E. Colfax Ave.) next Thursday starting at 7:30 p.m.
