A man driving with a suspended license led police on a high-speed chase Saturday night, beginning in Boulder and ending in Loveland.

The driver, Michael Dezell, 33, had a female passenger with him as he evaded police, driving more than 100 mph at times.

The chase started when the Colorado State Patrol attempted to pull over Dezell for speeding on northbound U.S. 287 in Boulder County.

Dezell didn’t stop his truck and drove into oncoming traffic before diverting to East County Line Road, where one of his tires was punctured by stop sticks.

Dezell continued to drive as the punctured tire’s rim created sparks. The black truck turned west on Sixth Street in Loveland, crossed multiple lanes of traffic and struck a curb. Dezell tried to run but was caught by officers.

State Patrol troopers from Boulder, Weld and Larimer counties were involved, with assistance from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and Loveland Police Department.

Dezell could be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, second-degree kidnapping, possible auto theft, felony vehicular eluding, reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving.

Fort Collins police had issued a warrant for Dezell for failure to appear on a traffic offense.
