While authorities are still piecing together a timeline of Duane Morrison’s time in Denver and Bailey, a Green Mountain man now says he is certain he saw Morrison as far back as Aug. 4.

John McDonough, who never filed an official report, said he recognized Morrison’s gold Jeep from news reports as the same vehicle that nearly forced him off a road that day, almost two months before last week’s shooting at Platte Canyon High School.

“I wondered if this was the same guy,” McDonough told 9News.

The encounter began as McDonough was driving west on East Montview Boulevard, starting to turn north on Quebec Street.

“There was a gap of about four cars between me and the next vehicle coming,” said McDonough. “I made the right and that vehicle accelerated very quickly, almost hitting me, (he) ran upon my rear bumper, gesturing wildly, just way out of control. I was concerned for my life.”

McDonough, who continued north on Quebec, said the Jeep’s driver tried to pass him on the sidewalk, swerving toward his vehicle, and nearly hitting other cars on the road. This continued all the way up to Interstate 70.

“I waited till we got to a spot where he could get past me, and I let him go,” McDonough said.

Before the Jeep drove off, McDonough said, he snapped a few pictures, which included Morrison making a gun-like gesture with his finger.

Using the photographs, 9News confirmed the vehicle was Morrison’s.
