2:15 p.m., Eagles by 2 1/2
Last meeting
Cowboys won 21-20 at Philadelphia on Nov. 14, 2005.
Spotlight on …
Who else? We won’t mention initials, but his name is Terrell Owens. In case you’ve been vacationing in a cave in Afghanistan, T.O. is returning to Philly for first time since the Eagles showed him the door after last season. Wanna bet he approaches or exceeds 100 yards in receptions? Even with the injury bug biting again, he’s on pace for 70-plus catches.
Who knew?
Eagles don’t miss T.O. as much as many people figured. Why? Because Philly front office swung key deal late in preseason that landed WR Donte Stallworth in City of T.O. Hate. Stallworth, a former No. 1 pick of the Saints, is tied for second among NFL wideouts with seven catches of 20-plus yards.
Etc.
For a guy who’s never won anything, Cowboys QB Drew Bledsoe sure puts up a lot of numbers. One more TD pass and he becomes 12th in NFL history with 250. … Eagles’ passing game off the charts. Philly averaging league-best 6.6 yards per play – virtually 7.0 on first down – and 297 yards passing per game. … Eagles leading NFC with 117 points. Philly fans, meanwhile, second to Raider Nation in fan arrests. … This just in: T.O. is so excited about facing former teammates, he has decided to ride his stationary bike to Philly. … Owens’ publicist, Kim Whatshername, picks Cowboys to win this one, what with a man of Owens’ “statue” at wideout. … Donovan McNabb, T.O.’s old sparring partner, leading league in yards passing (1,248) and TD passes (nine). Now for the fine print: Iggles have played Houston, the N.Y. Giants, San Fran and Green Bay, proud possessors of four of league’s worst D’s.
Prediction: Cowboys 17, Eagles 16
