A recent news report referred to the Denver Art Museum’s planned $62.5 million addition as the “Nexus,” but director
Lewis Sharp said it is unclear whether the institution will adopt
that term as a formal name for the wing.

Daniel Libeskind, the addition’s design architect, assigns a
working name to each of his projects. He selected the moniker
“Nexus” for the addition because he sees the building as a
downtown connecting point, culturally and geographically.

“I think that is something now that has to be rethought and
re-evaluated,” Sharp said. “Whether the architectural name will be
carried forward or whether it, like the Gio Ponti building, will
be known as the Libeskind wing or whether it will carry the name
of a prominent citizen – there are so many possibilities.”
