Cody, Wyo. – Denver-based discount air carrier Frontier Airlines is considering flying into Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody.
Airport manager Bob Hooper said he had received the request for information from Frontier but that the airport hasn’t yet replied.
He said the airport board hasn’t had a chance to meet since receiving the request. The airline wants a response in January.
Joe Hodas, Frontier spokesman, said he couldn’t comment on potential destinations until they’re announced. But he said the airline had asked a number of communities to provide information that could help it decide which new communities to serve.
Hodas said Frontier isn’t asking communities to offer the airline subsidies. He said the company is interested in building a reliable passenger-traffic network.
“We want communities that are willing to work with us to make sure we can attract passengers,” Hodas said. “Money is great, but handouts won’t last forever, and it doesn’t do us any good to set up service only to have to pull out later.”
