Getting your player ready...

Never mind the Broncos bringing all those former Browns defensive linemen back to Cleveland for the game Sunday.

Gerard Warren and his bunch are nothing more than accidental tourists next to Dave Logan, the Broncos’ radio play-by-by announcer and former Browns receiver.

“I’m a Brown at heart,” Logan said. “I mean, I love my gig, but I’ll always be a Brown.”

A strong case can be made that Logan is the best all-around athlete reared in Colorado. The case can be made because Logan and Dave Winfield are the only athletes to be drafted by major-league franchises in baseball, basketball and football.

A multisport star at the University of Colorado, Logan chose football and played for the Cleveland Browns from 1976-83, making 262 catches. His best seasons were 1979-80, when he combined for 110 catches for 1,804 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Browns combined for a 20-12 record, reaching the playoffs in 1980.

Logan made one more catch for the Broncos in 1984 before retiring and becoming the afternoon talk show host for KOA radio. He has been calling Broncos’ games on KOA for 17 seasons, the past 10 as the play-by- play voice. After he coaches 5A high school football power Mullen in its homecoming game tonight against Boulder, Logan will join the Broncos in Cleveland.

The Broncos might have all four starting defensive linemen going back to where they played in 2004. But Warren and Kenard Lang only spent four seasons in Cleveland. Michael Myers was there for a 1 1/2 seasons and Ebenezer Ekuban for one.

Logan spent eight years and all but four games with the Browns.

No one will have more mixed feelings about the game Sunday than the guy describing the action for Broncos’ radio listeners.

“You always hope the team you’re calling the games for has a great season,” Logan said. “And I know some of the Broncos players and coaches personally and I always want them to be successful. But I hope it’s OK for me to admit that I’m a Brown at heart.”
