Why are you running? I’ve been blessed in life. I was raised with the values and support that allowed me to succeed, and now I’ve raised two college-educated daughters with promising futures of their own…. I want to make sure that every citizen of our state has a fair shot at success.
What are the top three challenges facing Colorado or the institution you seek to represent?
Our skyrocketing health care costs must be contained and we need to provide affordable health care access to all Coloradans.
We need to sensibly distribute our natural resources and protect our environment so we can maintain the balance and beauty that makes Colorado such a great place to live.
What is your top priority in the next session if you should win? I want to bring more transparency to our health care system. Patients deserve to know the cost and quality of the care they purchase, and we should create a new front on which health care providers can compete on cost and quality.
What proposal in the last session did you oppose the most? I opposed a bill introduced this year that would have cut PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association) retirement benefits for future hires.
What proposal in the last session did you agree with the most? I agreed with the “Health Care Worker Protection Act” – often referred to as the “Whistleblower Bill.” It protected health care professionals, like nurses, from retaliation by employers if they speak up about poor patient care practices.
