A woman walking across the Boulder turnpike was hit by an automobile and killed today.
Westminster police said the woman, who had no identification on her, walked up a 10-foot dirt embankment, climbed over the metal guardrail and walked out into traffic. She was in the right-hand traffic lane when an automobile hit her.
The accident occurred in the east-bound lane of U.S. 36 near the Church Ranch Boulevard exit in Westminster. The speed limit there is 65 miles per hour.
Investigator Trevor Materasso said it could not be determined why she walked onto the highway.
