GOLDEN – A Catholic priest accused of fondling a teenage boy he was counseling pleaded not guilty Thursday to sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
A jury trial has been set for April 2 for Timothy Evans, 43, of Loveland.
Evans is accused of assaulting the then-16-year-old boy between 1995 and 1997 while he was assigned to Spirit of Christ Catholic Community in Arvada.
Evans, who has been forbidden from performing any priestly duties, also is accused in Larimer County of sexually assaulting a Fort Collins youth in 1999 while he was a pastor at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.

Reports say West to get hotter, drier
More withering heat waves, more droughts and fewer frosts will be part of Western life by the end of this century, according to three reports released in the last several weeks.
For the latest report released Wednesday in Climatic Change, researchers at the National Center for Atmospheric Research used nine sophisticated computer models to look at the future of weather events – from long spells without rain to heat waves and frost days.
Heat waves will become far more common across the world but especially in the Western U.S., the researchers found. Fewer frosts in this region – a trend that has already been observed – could mean more outbreaks of insects, such as pine beetles.
The predictions are consistent with other findings recently released.
WELD COUNTY
1 killed, 2 injured in rollover accident
One person died and two others went to the hospital after a double rollover crash early Thursday.
The crash happened about 2 a.m. near U.S. 85 and Weld County Road 22.
The driver of a Dodge Ram pickup lost control, and the truck rolled, ejecting three occupants, the Colorado State Patrol said.
As the pickup rolled, a wheel flew off and hit a commercial truck, causing it to roll.
One of the three pickup occupants died at the scene, another was taken by helicopter to a hospital, and the third was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.
The driver of the commercial truck was not hurt.
The State Patrol said alcohol was likely a factor in the crash.

Woman says man tried to assault her
Boulder police released a sketch Thursday of a man wanted for possibly trying to sexually assault a 25-year-old woman in her apartment.
The incident started Wednesday night, when the woman and a friend were at a downtown Boulder bar and a man introduced himself to them, police said.
The man said he knew them from their apartment complex.
The woman and her friend, however, did not recognize him.
About 2:15 a.m. Thursday, the woman returned to her apartment and went to bed, leaving the door unlocked for her friend, who was in the complex parking lot talking with another friend.
A few minutes later, the woman felt someone pulling the covers off her bed and awoke, she said, to see the man from the bar.
When confronted, the man walked toward the front door, but when the woman followed, she found the man hiding near the door.
She again told him to leave, and he did.
But when the woman opened her front door again, she saw the man standing outside. He then ran away.
The woman described the man as Hispanic, in his late 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black baseball cap with a white or silver logo, a black T-shirt and black pants.
