Country station KYGO 98.5-FM maintained its lead among listeners, according to the summer Arbitron radio ratings released Thursday.

KYGO nosed out hip-hop station KQKS 107.5-FM, which had a 5.9 share, for the top spot. A share is the percentage of listeners who have the radio on.

The top-10 Denver stations among all listeners, ages 12 and up: KYGO, 6.0 share; KQKS, 5.9; KOSI 101.1-FM, 4.8; KOA 850-AM, 4.8; KBCO 97.3-FM, 4.6; KXPK 96.5-FM, 4.2; KALC 105.9-FM, 4.0; KBPI 106.7-FM, 3.8; KRFX 103.5-FM; KJCD 104.3-FM, 3.3; KHOW 630-AM, 3.3.;, and KXKL 105.1-FM, 3.1.

KXKL (“KOOL”), which altered its oldies format and dropped its morning team, suffered a precipitous fall, going from a 5.3 share last summer to a 3.1. A big gainer was KXPK, the Spanish-language station, whose numbers rose from 3.3 to 4.2.

KYGO felt the arrival of country-music rival KWLI 92.5-FM (“The Wolf”). Its numbers fell from an 8.3 share in 2005 to a 6.0 among listeners 25-54, a demographic coveted by broadcasters.
