A 17-year-old Thornton youth has been charged with a felony for allegedly making a bomb threat at Horizon High School earlier this month.

The youth, who attended Horizon last year and did not return this year, was charged Thursday by the Adams County District Attorney’s office with false reporting of an explosive device, a class VI felony; and interference with staff, faculty and students of an educational facility, a class I misdemeanor.

The bomb threat was made the morning of Oct. 5, causing the school to be closed and searched all day. Nothing was found.

The youth was arrested last Friday and charged on Thursday.

The Denver Post does not identify juveniles unless they are charged as an adult.
