GADGET|HP has a simple pocket-sized digital camera that’s a great choice for first-time buyers. The HP Photosmart M627 is a 7-megapixel point-and- shoot camera in an all-metal casing with a nice 2.5-inch LCD. Traditionalists might like the large display but won’t like not having a viewfinder. Many features of the $229 camera are easily controlled with buttons atop the camera rather than being forced to use the menu.
