Colorado Springs – Freshman Bill Sweatt scored a pair of power-play goals and assisted on another as Colorado College defeated Minnesota State 7-2 on Saturday night.
The Tigers scored four power-play goals, including three in the third period to complete a series sweep.
The Tigers outshot the Mavericks 42-20. Jack Hillen and Scott Thauwald each had a goal and an assist for the Tigers (7-4-1, 4-2-0 WCHA).
Travis Morin scored twice for the Mavericks (3-9-0, 2-6-0).
The Tigers opened up a 2-0 lead on goals by Sweatt and Thauwald in the first period. Morin brought the Mavericks back with one goal in each of the first two periods.
But after Morin’s power-play goal at 11:58 of the second, Colorado College needed just 51 seconds to get its lead back, as Jimmy Kilpatrick shot a rebound past goalie Dan Tormey. Cody Lampl and Mike Testwuide scored the final CC goals.
Tormey finished with 35 saves, including 15 in the second period. Drew O’Connell made 18 saves for the Tigers.
