A woman died Thursday after being hit by a truck while walking on the side of U.S. 36 in Westminster.
The accident happened at about 11:15 a.m., near the Church Ranch Boulevard exit. Police said they are still trying to figure out what happened. The woman, whose name was not released, was walking on the side of eastbound U.S. 36. Some witnesses said they saw her walk quickly into traffic just prior to being hit, Westminster police spokesman Trevor Materasso said in a news release.
She was struck by a pickup truck towing a flat-bed trailer.
Police closed eastbound U.S. 36 for about three and a half hours while they investigated the accident.
