Primary campaign
We like the much-hyped, celebrity-drenched (PRODUCT) RED campaign a lot, and we’ll admit the reason is more than its potential to raise cash for the Global Fund to fight the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. The products actually look good. Snap up Red iPods, Red Armani watches, red Gap T’s and red Motorola Razr phones while they’re available. We’re just bummed we can’t get the red American Express, which is available only in the U.K. Plenty of info on other items and how to get them at joinred.com details at rallytorescue.org.
Pet project
Dog Northwest Disaster Search Dogs got there first with BARKSTRONG rubber collars to support the work of hounds that rescue people. Now Purina ProPlan has rolled out a line of bow-wow bling to support the work of people who rescue pets, like Western Colorado Sheltie Rescue in Clifton and Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club Rescue in Arvada. Five bucks gets you a pair of adjustable collar-style bands, one for the human wrist and one for Fifi or Fido’s neck. Get the details at rallytorescue.org.
By the numbers
So maybe the ninemillion.org T-shirt isn’t the greatest fashion statement. Still it speaks loudly. A whopping 50 percent of the sale price goes directly to United Nations Refugee Agency programs, which are working to better conditions for the 9 million kids living in poverty around the globe. Get them at your favorite Nike store for $20.
