Kevin Costner has asked Deadwood, S.D., to annex eight acres so he can build a housing development. Preliminary plans call for 88 single-family houses and 72 townhouse units on the 160-acre property. The homes will be middle- to higher-end and the owners will have to abide by covenants, Costner’s attorney, Mike Reynolds of Rapid City, told the Associated Press. A decision could come at a public hearing scheduled for Monday. Costner recently won a South Dakota Supreme Court ruling allowing him to buy out minority investors to become sole owner of the Midnight Star casino in Deadwood. The housing project is not part of Costner’s Dunbar resort in Deadwood.

A year ago, the New York Post reports, Cohen’s “Borat” crew secretly filmed him unpacking in an elevator as if it were his room. “He checked in as a travel writer from Kazakhstan and asked for a special rate, $100 a night, which we gave him – and then he tried to get it down to $30,” a hotel insider told the Post. In the middle of the night, Cohen’s staffers were caught carrying furniture out of the hotel. The night manager discovered the furniture had been stolen from a New Jersey Sheraton. Cohen and his crew left the hotel before police arrived.
