CLEAN THYSELF: Industrial designers at Electrolux developed the new Twin Clean vacuum to alleviate the pesky chore of emptying vacuum bags and canisters. Twin Clean is a little red and white scooter that boasts two functional filters. Used interchangeably, one filter works on household cleanup while the other cleans itself inside the Electrolux canister. That makes this vacuum “virtually maintenance free,” according to its makers. Twin Clean sells for $500 at Best Buy, or online at electroluxusa.com.
AN IDEA WITH REACH: Say goodbye to clumsy, hard-to-store ladders with Xtend & Climb, a compact version of the traditional ladder that retracts to a mere 28 inches and unfolds to as tall as 10 1/2 feet. The ladder opens and unlocks at each step, meaning users need to extend it only enough for a given project. Xtend & Climb is $129.99 at select Target and Ace Hardware stores.
SKYE’S THE LIMIT: The Skye Boutique is a little LoDo store with a big-city look. It officially opens its expanded second half next week, and the extra space will enable owner Skye Forrest to carry more hard-to- find designers’ brands, new jewelry lines and artwork. The new selection includes limited-edition sculptures by Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante, a former architecture student who forges surreal, fantastic and sometimes darkly comedic images out of ceramic and papier-mâché. The Skye will be the only licensed Sergio Bustamante dealer in Colorado. The store is located at 1499 Blake St.
