Sad situation at South
I was the head football coach at South High School before Adrian Tyson.
If only you knew how awful it is to coach for the school’s administration. Mr. Kohut and Ms. Lofaro are either totally incompetent or they have gotten exactly what they planned. Since neither of them is without intellectual merit, one could assume the two have deep-rooted issues with football as a sport, football coaches in general and the ability to overcome their internal disdain for anything associated with the game.
However, I can’t be too quick to point my finger at either, as their deep-rooted hatred for football is second only to that of the leadership at the district level.
If one believes results are the net outcome of the work, processes, management and diligence of those in leadership, then one should take the results of this district athletic leadership in football and work it backwards in time. The results are heinous. The accountability for the lack of performance is even more sickening. Thousands of young men have suffered with absolutely no consequence. It is really sad.
The ultimate losers are the Jordon Bowyers and John Ellsworths of the world. But they are just the latest victims in over a decade of destructive management.
My personal plea to the superintendent is: Somebody do something, please. Why does this culture continue without any consequence to the leadership?
Again, it is just sad.
Ryan Mullaney, former South football coach
