Cubist design
Worker bees can take comfort knowing that hive- style office living, conceived by a former CU art professor, has at last been rethought. Herman Miller Inc., the company that brought us the Bob Probst-designed Action Office cube back in 1964, recently rolled out My Studio Environments. Kinder, gentler cubes still carve vast open spaces into personal work areas. But instead of having all sides open to every Starbucks run in the building, the studios have doors and sliding internal panels that let cube monkeys decide who swings in. In Denver, the creative firm of Kear/ Stevens is giving the cubes a whirl in their three-sided Golden Triangle HQ.
