The Daniels Fund board approved $11 million in grants to nonprofit organizations and $1.5 million in Daniels Opportunity Scholarships during its quarterly meeting this week.
“The needs in our community are great, especially at this time of year,” said Linda Childears, president and chief executive of the Denver-based Daniels Fund.
Major grants in Colorado were awarded to Care and Share Inc.; Denver’s Office for Drug Strategies; Colorado Bright Beginnings; Colorado Springs Sports Corp.; Denver Public Schools Foundation; Family Tree Inc.; Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver Inc.; Johnson and Wales University, Strengthening Career Opportunities; Leaders Challenge; Open World Learning; Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust; Seniors Inc.; Seniors’ Resource Center Inc.; Step 13; the Denver Street School; and YMCA of Metro Denver.
The Daniels Opportunity Scholarship program provides scholarships, based on need, “to non-traditional students, including adult learners, GED recipients, foster-care youth, juvenile-justice youth, returning military and individuals pursuing emergency medical technician/paramedic training.”
