Denver City Councilwoman Rosemary Rodriguez said Wednesday that she has been nominated by President Bush for appointment to the United States Election Assistance Commission.

Rodriguez, a former Denver clerk and recorder, will have to be confirmed by the Senate before taking the post.

If she leaves her seat on the council more than 90 days before the May election, the city would have to hold a special election to fill her District 3 seat, she said.
