A Lakewood man has been arrested by the child-sex-offender Internet investigations unit of the Jefferson County district attorney’s office.

Dorne Grady Butts, 51, was taken into custody on charges of Internet luring of a child and enticement of a child, police said in a news release.

Butts met someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl in a chat room in November, and the conversation became sexual, authorities said.

The “teen” actually was an undercover DA investigator.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 23.

DA confirms probe in baby’s death

A Boulder grand jury is investigating the unsolved death of an 11-week-old Louisville boy who died nine months ago from what the coroner concluded were abuse-related injuries.

Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy confirmed the existence of the grand jury investigation Wednesday, the first time she has released any information on her office’s involvement in the Jason Midyette case.

The grand jury officially began its investigation Oct. 26.

Critics have said that it has taken too long for Lacy to file charges in the death.

Jason died in early March from head injuries after spending about a week in the hospital.

An attorney for mother Molly Midyette declined to comment Wednesday.

An attorney for father Alex Midyette did not return phone calls.

Hit-and-run suspect seeks reduced bail

A 36-year-old man, charged in the hit-and-run accident that killed three members of a Denver family, wants out of jail.

Lawrence Trujillo appeared at a brief court hearing Wednesday where his attorney, Robert Bernhardt, filed a motion asking for a reduction in Trujillo’s $250,000 bail.

Rebecca Bingham, 39, and her two children, 4-year-old Macie and 2-year-old Garrison, died Nov. 10 at 15th and Arapahoe streets.

The father, Frank Bingham, 41, survived.

Bernhardt said that the $250,000 bail is “oppressive” and that, since Trujillo was born and raised in the Denver metro area, it is unlikely he will flee.

A bail reduction hearing was scheduled for next week.

The Volkswagen driver, 18- year-old Dean Kokorus of Lakewood, was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital, but the extent of his injuries was not known, police said. The street-sweeper driver was not injured.

The driver whom the officer was pursuing is still at large.
