A large plume of smoke visible around noon today in the foothills west of Denver is about all that’s left of a single-family home in Deer Creek Canyon.
The home on Buffalo Drive in unincorporated Jefferson County caught fire around 11 a.m. and burned to the ground, said Micki Trost, spokeswoman for the West Metro Fire District.
No one was injured. It could not be determined if anyone was in the home when it caught fire, she said.
West Metro firefighters worked the fire along with firefighters from the Inter-Canyon Fire District and a truck from Lockheed-Martin, she said.
The house is roughly two miles west of Lockheed-Martin in a hilly, wooded area.
Trost said the cause of the fire has not been determined.
