ANSEL ADAMS
Ansel Adams & Edwin Land
Art, Science and Invention – Photographs from the Polaroid Collection
Longmont Museum & Cultural Center, 400 Quail Road, Longmont
303-651-8374, ci.longmont.co.us/museum
At the invitation of inventor Edwin Land, Ansel Adams visited the Polaroid factory and started working with Land’s “instant” camera and film in the late 1940s. Their collaboration lasted 35 years and helped lead to the Polaroid’s recognition as a serious medium for art photography. The touring exhibition of 65 images, which includes vintage prints of some of Adams’ most famous landscapes and later Polaroid close-ups, remains on display through Feb. 4.
ROASTED POBLANO BURGERS
Grandview Tavern and Grill
7427 Grandview Ave., Arvada 303-422-0781
A former general store – the dowels that held the shelves on the walls are still visible between the bricks – the Grandview is a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon nursing a Fat Tire and thinking dark thoughts about the Broncos. The kitchen turns out righteous salads, dinners and munchies, but we gravitate to the roasted poblano burger – chopped poblano and red onion mixed into the patty, served on a ciabatta roll with pepper jack cheese and homemade mango salsa, and they’re not afraid to give it to you pink in the center, either.
