CHL’s Eagles winners of 10 straight at home
The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League won their 10th consecutive home game, 4-2 over the Amarillo Gorillas at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland on Saturday.
It was Colorado’s (15-4-0) second win in as many nights over Amarillo (8-10-2).
Four players scored for Colorado as the Eagles got their league-leading 15th short-handed goal, by Chris Hartsburg 3:10 into the third period that put them ahead 4-0.
The Eagles have held opponents scoreless in two of their past three games. The Northwest Division-leading Eagles next travel to face the Rocky Mountain Rage on Friday in Broomfield.
Bill Vandermeer had both of Amarillo’s goals and scored four in back-to-back games against Colorado.
Scorpions hold off late Rage rally for win
The Rocky Mountain Rage lost a third consecutive game and are winless in their past 12 games after the New Mexico Scorpions earned a 4-3 victory at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, N.M.
New Mexico broke a 1-1 tie with two special-teams goals in the first two minutes of the third period.
Rocky Mountain (6-12-2) is in last place in the Northwest Division with 14 points. The Rage hasn’t won a road game since an opening-night victory Oct. 20 against the Colorado Eagles in Loveland.
