ASPEN – Aspen Skiing Co. announced Monday it will partner with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation to sell certified “SkiGreen Tags” to resort guests who wish to offset their travel-related greenhouse-gas emissions with wind energy.

Each SkiGreen Tag represents one megawatt-hour of renewable power generation and is equivalent to roughly 150 miles driven.

It can be added to an Aspen Skiing season pass for $20, or to each daily lift ticket for $2.

The nonprofit Bonneville Environmental Foundation, based in Portland, will invest 20 percent of all tag sales into local renewable-energy projects.
