Ann Padilla, founder and chief executive of Sunny Side Inc./Temp Side, has sold her business of 31 years to Talent Tree, a Houston-based staffing firm.

Padilla’s Denver-based company employs five full-time workers. It has hundreds of temporary workers placed at businesses throughout the metro area.

Terms of the deal signed earlier this month with Talent Tree were not disclosed.

Padilla said she began shopping the company to potential buyers in March. Discussions with Talent Tree started about six weeks ago.

She said Talent Tree, which already operates in the Denver area, acquired her company largely for Sunny Side’s roster of clients.

“It was a good deal all the way around,” said Padilla, whose company has placed workers for Ball Corp., Wells Fargo and the state of Colorado. “Talent Tree knows this business.”

Padilla, 63, said the sale will allow her to travel more and to devote additional time to family and philanthropy. Padilla sits on the board of directors for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.

She said she may eventually start a new business or become more involved in politics.

“The fun part is bringing a company together,” said Padilla, who helped form Valor Communications, a Dallas-based telecommunications company that merged with Alltel earlier this year.

Born in New Mexico, Padilla grew up in Brighton and attended the University of Colorado. She is married to Bob Grabowski, Sunny Side’s vice president of finance and administration.
