A bear was fatally hit by a car in Lone Tree on Wednesday, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
The Wednesday morning crash happened near Yosemite Street and Heritage Hills Parkway, temporarily blocking traffic on Yosemite, Lone Tree spokesperson Melissa Gallegos said. The bear, an adult male, moved to the treeline on the east side of the road after being struck.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers tranquilized the bear to assess its health, but the animal died from internal injuries sustained in the crash, .
The driver was not injured, Gallegos said.
