Online satirists Jibjab.com have released their 2006 year-in-review spoof.
With new lyrics written to the tune of “Jingle Bells,” the two-minute video clip parodies everyone from Kim Jong Il and Ted Haggard to Brangelina.
“Nucking Futs,” as the clip is called, revisits Vice President Dick Cheney’s shooting of a hunting companion, and the Democratic takeover of Congress.
The brief mention of Haggard shows him swinging on a rope into a pit of fire, as the schoolchildren singing the lyrics say, “Ted Haggard fell from grace,” referring to the Colorado Springs evangelical leader’s resignation following a gay sex and drug scandal earlier this fall.
The year-in-review parody aired Tuesday night on NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
JibJab.com became widely known during the presidential campaign between John Kerry and George Bush, with a parody of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land.”
