Boulder’s Brandon Gouin will play football at the Air Force Academy, after the all-Centennial League, 6-foot-2, 205-pounder and two-way performer received a congressional nomination from Democrat Mark Udall.
“I’m not quite exactly sure which position, but they’re going to give me a shot at quarterback and at linebacker to see where I fit in best,” Gouin said Sunday.
Gouin had received other interest, including from the University of Colorado as a grayshirt, he said, but he’s also considering becoming a pilot.

Mannino leads Pioneers to weekend sweep
Peter Mannino earned his seventh career shutout, posting 38 saves in leading the No. 12-ranked University of Denver hockey team to a 2-0 victory over host Alaska-Anchorage in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game at Sullivan Arena late Saturday.
Mannino led Denver’s penalty-killing unit with a perfect 7-for-7 effort. The Pioneers (12-6-2, 8-4-2 WCHA) earned a weekend sweep of Anchorage (8-8-2, 6-8-0) and have won three consecutive games. Denver moved into second place in the WCHA with 18 points. The Pioneers trail only Minnesota (21 points).
Kraft quits Wyoming women’s hoops
Sophomore guard Alysia Kraft has become the second player in the last month to leave the University of Wyoming women’s basketball team, deciding to quit the program in order to concentrate on her academic career and other interests, coach Joe Legerski said. Freshman guard Tahnee Robinson, of Fort Washakie, left the program in late November for personal reasons.
