Xcel Energy natural-gas customers can expect their heating bills to fall by more than 10 percent next month, thanks to a drop in the cost of natural gas, milder-than-normal weather and high storage levels, the utility said Monday.
The average residential gas bill for January is projected to be $111.67, down from $123.78 this month, Xcel said.
The typical small-business customer can expect to pay $521.78 next month, down from $576.84 this month.
Xcel adjusts the price it charges for natural gas each month based on the cost it expects to pay for the commodity. The company charges customers only what it pays for the gas.
