Snagging for kokanee salmon will not be allowed off Dam 1 at Carter Reservoir on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve. The activity will be allowed all other dates in December, then closed for the season.
Wildlife area closures
The Colorado Division of Wildlife has announced a series of seasonal closures at state wildlife areas in southern Colorado. These include:
Gunnison, through March 31; Centennial, June 30; Almont Triangle, March 31; Cabin Creek, April 30; Leaps Gulch, April 30; McCluskey and Roeber, April 30; Dutch Gulch, closed March 1-June 15; San Luis Lakes, Feb. 15-July 16; Hot Creek, Jan. 1-April 30; La Jara Creek, closed to vehicles Jan. 1-May 24; Sego Springs, Feb. 15-July 15; Coller, closed to vehicles Jan. 1-April 1.
Denver public meetings
Wildlife commissioners Jeff Crawford and Rick Enstrom will host a joint public meeting Dec. 27 at the Denver headquarters of the Division of Wildlife, 6060 Broadway. Crawford, the commission chairman who represents the public at large, and Enstrom, representing sportsmen, will entertain comments and questions. The 6 p.m. meeting will be at DOW’s education building.
