The Colorado State Patrol identified two people killed in a weekend crash that injured seven people, including two Douglas County sheriff’s deputies.

Passengers Ryan Lohrenz, 28, of Denver, and Kara Campbell, 23, of Littleton, were killed in the accident on C-470 and Broadway that happened at 2 a.m. Saturday.

Campbell was sitting in Lohrenz lap at the time of the crash, according to the state patrol.

The two were in the front passenger seat of a Honda Passport that crashed into two Douglas County sheriff’s deputies, who were sitting in their patrol cars while conducting a traffic stop.

The deputies were stopped on the shoulder in two cars. The rear of one patrol car was sticking out about a foot into the right traffic lane with its emergency lights on when the Honda struck it.

The patrol car then was pushed into the patrol car in front of it, and the two cars spun and collided into each other.

The officers suffered minor injuries and were released from Littleton Hospital on Saturday.

Colorado State Patrol Master Trooper Ron Watkins said the driver was required to abide by Colorado’s “Move Over” law, which requires vehicles to move to the opposite lane of where an emergency vehicle is parked.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash, Watkins said.

The driver of the Passport, 27-year-old Nathan Hummel, of Littleton, had moderate injuries. Watkins said he doesn’t yet know what possible charges would be filed against the driver until the investigation is complete.

Passengers John Huff, 23, of Duluth, Minn., Jordan Vaughan, 23, of Colorado Springs, Bryan Williams, 22, of Lone Tree and Shannon Zele, 23, of Littleton all had serious injuries.
