Where: Giant Panda Breeding and Research Centre in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province.

Best meal: We traveled from Thailand, China, Tibet, Nepal and on to India on this trip. We split dinners of roasted goat, potatoes with gravy and buttered vegetables and wonderful vegetarian pizza with eggplant, mushrooms and zucchini at a small cafe in Delhi. Refreshing mango shakes can be an awesome afternoon treat while shopping along Delhi’s side streets.

Best deal: Take some time to check out the beautiful silk clothing, scarves, sarees and the fabulous pashimina wool rugs. They will ship rugs for free right to your door – no worries on how you will drag your new purchase home.

Best time to go: We traveled in March and April. The weather was great – not too hot.

Best travel tip: Don’t be afraid to “wing it.” We never totally plan everything out but end up having great adventures, from the extremely awesome pandas to Mount Everest at sunset to the Taj Mahal.
