Former North Carolina State star and Nuggets first-round draft pick Julius Hodge hit a 17-footer as time expired Wednesday night to lift the 14ers to a 112-110 win over the Anaheim Arsenal at the Broomfield Event Center.
Hodge, who scored 13 points, was one of seven 14ers to score in double figures. Louis Amundson had a team-high 15 points for Colorado (7-3).
Eagles’ Nelson a CHL all-star starter
Riley Nelson, a forward for the Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League, was selected to start for the Northern Conference team in the CHL All-Star Game, to be played Jan. 17 in Bossier-Shreveport, Louisiana.
Nelson leads the CHL with seven short-handed goals and a plus-19 rating.
On Wednesday, the Eagles won a ninth consecutive game after getting two short-handed goals to roll past the New Mexico Scorpions 5-1 at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, N.M. The Eagles have a league-leading 19 short-handed goals this season.
