Ex-fan cites poor service

My family originated in the Denver area and up until this morning I had been a lifelong Broncos fan. In October, I purchased six tickets to the Broncos game on Dec. 24, with the intention of taking my family as a Christmas gift and seeing the Broncos live for the first time. My flight was canceled due to the blizzard and I was unable to make it to Denver in time for the game. I attempted to ship the tickets via UPS so that my family could still use them. Due to airport conditions, the package did not deliver before game day.

I contacted the Broncos box office and StubHub.com, but both parties refused me any assistance. In my opinion, it is unacceptable that the beneficiaries of a multimillion dollar industry are unwilling to assist a legitimate paying customer who has run into unfortunate circumstances that are beyond his control. I am deeply sorry that I bought into the illusion propagated by this franchise and that I fell victim to the poor customer service policies in place at StubHub.com. We’ve obviously come into an era where the best interests of professional football have deviated from the fans’ … .

I will not watch tomorrow’s game, nor will I support the Denver Broncos anymore. I will make every effort to discourage anyone from ever doing business with StubHub.com as they’ve taken my money and have made no effort to assist me in an emergency situation.

Starr was loser in college

Your article on the Denver Post sports section alluded to Jay Cutler coming from a losing program. It would be good to review Bart Starr’s final two seasons at Alabama. In 1954, Starr’s record was 4-5 and 3 ties. In 1955, he lost all 10 games. He then went in the 17th round of the NFL draft. Under Vince Lombardi, he won five NFL championships with the Green Bay Packers.

Karl had role in brawl

Although the players on the court last Saturday have ultimate responsibility for the brawl, George Karl is also at fault. With 1:15 left on the clock and a 19-point Denver lead, star Carmelo Anthony should not have still been playing. Isaiah Thomas and the Knicks could have interpreted Anthony’s presence only as a means of maximizing scoring opportunities and turning a certain victory into an embarrassing blowout. If Karl had removed Anthony at the previous break in the action, the hard foul that triggered the melee never would have occurred.
