“Sargent’s Venice” puts 60 works from the American artist on view

Adelson Galleries will feature 60 watercolor and oil paintings from John Singer Sargent in an exhibition Jan. 19-March 3. Titled “Sargent’s Venice,” the show has a companion book by the same name ($65, Yale University Press) and travels to Museo Correr in Venice Mar. 24-July 22, the first time the artist has offered a solo exhibit in that city. “A Chorus of Colors” puts more than 100 live frogs on display

View live frogs from all over the world at the Houston Museum of Natural Science Jan. 19-May 6. The museum will feature more than 100 species, ranging in size from 1 inch to 12. Interesting examples include the shockingly colored golden mantella frog and the Chinese gliding frog, capable of soaring through the air and landing gracefully from daunting heights. “Grossology” explores “impolite” science, workings of human body

In case you missed it at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in 2005, find out why and how the body produces all the stinky, crusty, scaly, oozy gunk it does at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center Jan. 20 when “Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body” opens. “Circling Around Abstraction” art of O’Keeffe’s from a different angle

Georgia O’Keeffe was known for approaching abstraction from different viewpoints, and “Georgia O’Keeffe: Circling Around Abstraction” examines her use of circular motifs. The Norton Museum of Art has organized this exhibit and will offer it Feb. 10-May 6 before sending it to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe May 5-Sept. 9. Norton Museum of Art, 1451 S.
