Nuggets guard Allen Iverson expected a fine. Today he got one.
The NBA fined Iverson $25,000 for his comments about referee Steve Javie Tuesday night following the Nuggets-76ers game at the Pepsi Center. Javie ejected Iverson in the fourth quarter and afterward the Nuggets guard said the referee had a short fuse. He added, it’s “personal between me and him ever since I got in the league.”
Iverson talked with league officials on Wednesday and said afterward he expected to be fined. The fine was announced this afternoon.
“It’s not something that I’m proud of as far as kids seeing it and kids having to hear it,” Iverson said on Thursday. “It was just something that should never happen. It’s something I never should have done, something that I never should have said. I’m disappointed in myself and hopefully after I get the fine the whole thing will be over.”
