DENVER – The Denver Foundation, the state’s oldest and largest community foundation, announced Tuesday it received more than $115 million in gifts and doled out about $36 million in grants in 2006 – both records.
The 81-year-old foundation was boosted by a donation of $37.5 million in Venoco Corp. stock given by Tim and Bernadette Marquez. The foundation also set a record for the highest number of grants, awarding 3,641 last year.
