In front of a packed audience, Kathy Hartman was sworn in today as Jefferson County’s first Democratic commissioner since 1997.
Hartman joins Republicans Kevin McCasky and Jim Congrove on the board. McCasky and Congrove are halfway through their four-year terms.
Also taking office are Pam Anderson as county clerk; Faye Griffin, treasurer; Jim Everson, assessor; Ted Mink, sheriff; Katherine Loughrey-Stemp, coroner, and Diana Askew, surveyor.
Mink was accompanied by his father and son as he took the oath of office. All three are named Ted B. Mink.
“I’ve sworn in the sheriff three times but this is the first time I’ve had three Ted Minks,” said District Court Chief Judge R. Brooke Jackson.
Jackson was sworn in by Leland Anderson, who retired Monday as a district court judge and is now a senior judge.
Other retained judges being sworn in were Christopher Munch, district court, and Charles Hoppin and Thomas Vance, county court.
Peter Weir, who joined the Jefferson County bench in 2004, also was retained as district court judge but resigned this week to become Gov. Bill Ritter’s public safety chief.
The 1st Judicial District nominating commission will meet Feb. 2 to interview and select nominees for Weir’s successor who will be apointed by the governor.
