Getting your player ready...

Major League Soccer holds its SuperDraft today, with the Colorado Rapids having the sixth, 17th and 18th overall picks. Rapids assistant coach John Murphy, in his weekly letter to fans on the team’s website, didn’t give away any “house secrets” or hints about whom the club might draft, but he did say the Rapids consistently look for the best player available and then make adjustments (trades, or moving the player to a new position) in training camp. ESPN.com in its mock draft has the Rapids choosing 6-foot-4 goalkeeper Chris Seitz of Maryland, saying the offseason acquisitions of Brandon Prideaux, Herculez Gomez and Ugo Ihemelu have done much to address the team’s positional needs.

ESPN.com is predicting John Cunliffe of Fort Lewis, the only Division II player invited to the predraft combine, will go 12th to New England, where he “could provide the Revs with some valuable flexibility” in the center, in the middle or out wide. The draft is being held in Indianapolis and begins at 10 a.m. MST.
