Of all people, Jackie Warner, star of Bravo’s reality series “Workout,” created a stir at the Equinox gym in West Hollywood. According to janetcharltonsholly wood.com, Warner likes to arrive late at the busiest 7 a.m. spinning class (featuring several celebrities including Nicole Kidman). Warner, also a fitness trainer, talks to friends during class, ignores the instructor and leaves early, disrupting the class again, a source said. Warner runs her own gym and charges $400 per hour for personal training, so this seems rather odd behavior.
Penelope Cruz explained why she loves her latest role in “Volver” and the film’s director, Pedro Almodovar: “He wanted me to put on a little weight,” Cruz told the New York Post’s Cindy Adams. “So for him, for the film, I gained 7 pounds. Actually, I was very happy to do this because I love to eat. And since I absolutely love food, so far I haven’t taken it off.”
Mariah Carey told V magazine she turns her bedroom into a steam room to protect her voice. “Literally, I’ll have 20 humidifiers around the bed. Basically, it’s like sleeping in a steam room. The bed is all terry-cloth, the ceiling is pitched so the water can’t fall on my head, and it drips down to my side, and the TV is behind glass.”
Angelina Jolie may be working too hard to stay in great shape, a fitness expert told the London Evening Standard. Shown photos of the 31-year-old actress with bulging veins in her arms, hands and even fingers, Steve Mongey, head trainer at the Virgin Active gym in West London, said the bulging veins may be caused by too much exercise without a proper diet. “These veins can be caused by weight-bearing exercises,” Mongey said. “The body needs to pump oxygen into the veins for these exercises and this causes the veins to expand. If you don’t keep your eating up and do a lot of exercise the fat gets stripped away and the veins become exposed.” Jolie is a self-confessed fitness fanatic, particularly since her first “Tomb Raider” film, in which she performed her own stunts.
